The International Breastfeeding Institute is pleased to serve people from all walks of life, all parts of the world and all stages of development. We consider it a privilege to offer an online program for each unique person that comes to us. Whether you are just graduating from high school, you have young children or older children, you’re maternal at heart or you are newly empty nested, this coursework may be the answer!
Most of our students can be described by one or more of the following groups:
- Licensed Healthcare Providers
- Allied Healthcare Providers such as Doulas, IBCLCs or aspiring IBCLCs
- Recent High school graduates wanting to start a career
- Recent College Graduates
- Individuals who want to leave a current job to do something you are passionate about
- Individuals who want to add skills to your tool bag because you work with women in the perinatal period
- Moms of older children
- Moms of young children
- Empty Nesters
Prerequisites to become a breastfeeding counselor:
- A passion for supporting families
- Non-judgemental love and care
- Internet access
- Basic computer skills
You do not need:
- Any medical training
- A college degree
- College credits
